Håkan Borgenhäll is head of Advokatfirman Vinge KB’s IP practice group in Stockholm. As such, he heads a team of more than 18 lawyers. The Vinge IP group includes a prosecution department for trademarks and design applications and related matters.
Mr Borgenhäll specialises in IP law and is top ranked in several directories. He started his career in the 1980s, serving in Swedish courts for two years. Since then, for close to 30 years, he has advised clients in the field of intellectual property. Before joining Vinge, Mr Borgenhäll was head of an IP group and a partner at another big law firm. His practice predominantly relates to disputes concerning trademarks, patents, copyright and registered designs, commercial IP agreements and unfair competition and marketing law. Mr Borgenhäll also advises on IP strategies and the establishment of IP rights. He has been involved in several leading cases in the fields of unconventional trademarks and design protection.
Mr Borgenhäll was appointed by the minister for justice to assist as an expert in the Swedish government investigation of the European unitary patent system, as well as in the drafting of a new Patent Act. He also served as an expert in the government investigation of the implementation of the EU Designs Directive (98/74/EC) into Swedish law. In addition, Mr Borgenhäll is active in domestic and international IP associations. He is frequently invited to lecture on different IP topics at Swedish universities and has also written articles on complex IP issues, including investigation and estimation of damages in infringement cases.
