Guillaume Fournier

Guillaume Fournier is a partner and co-head of Meyerlustenberger Lachenal Ltd’s trademark and design group. His practice encompasses all aspects of IP law, with a focus on IP litigation and arbitration, trademark and design prosecution and contractual and commercial intellectual property. He has extensive experience in litigating both technical and non-technical IP cases in the French and German-speaking parts of Switzerland. With many years’ experience handling clients’ IP issues in China and having practised there for one year, Dr Fournier regularly advises rights holders on China-related IP and anti-counterfeiting strategies (both inbound and outbound). Over the years he has developed special expertise in strategies to fight product piracy on a multi-jurisdictional level. He also regularly advises on IP and competition issues relating to distribution agreements. Dr Fournier’s clients are active in a wide range of industries, including luxury goods, pharmaceuticals, machine industry, furniture, technology, automotive and wine.

Before joining Meyerlustenberger Lachenal in 2005, Dr Fournier spent several years at the Swiss Intellectual Property Office in Bern. He is president of the Swiss French-speaking IP association AROPI and has therefore been involved in many major developments in IP law in Switzerland. He is also a lecturer on the preparation course for Swiss patent attorneys.
