Francine Tan has practised as an IP specialist for more than 23 years. She graduated from the Law Faculty of the National University of Singapore and is admitted to the Supreme Court of Singapore and the roll of solicitors of England and Wales. Over the years, Ms Tan has managed the trademark portfolios of numerous clients and has been consistently recognised by AsiaLaw and Who’s Who Legal as one of the leading IP lawyers in Singapore. She has headed the IP and trademarks departments of other IP specialist and law firms since 1997 and founded her own legal practice in January 2010. The firm had the honour of winning the ASIA IP Award for Trademark Law Firm of the Year (Singapore) during the awards gala dinner which took place in Auckland, New Zealand in November 2017.
A substantial portion of Ms Tan’s practice relates to anti-counterfeiting issues and contentious matters, including revocation and opposition proceedings. She has represented clients in many oral hearings before the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.
Since 2002 Ms Tan has served as a panellist for domain name disputes for various dispute resolution forums including the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the National Arbitration Forum, the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Arbitration Centre.
Ms Tan has served on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Group of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, the IP Committee of the Law Society of Singapore, and on various International Trademark Association committees. She has spoken at seminars organised by MARQUES, the Singapore IP Academy and others, and most recently at the 2017 MARQUES Conference in Prague.
In addition to speaking Mandarin, Ms Tan has studied French, German and Japanese.
