Fernando Rodríguez is a founding partner at FJF Legal with 20 years’ experience in intellectual property.
Mr Rodríguez holds a law degree from the Universities of Barcelona and Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), as well as an LLM in intellectual property and information technology from the University of Alicante (Magister Lvcentinvs).
Mr Rodríguez is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and has practised IP law since 1997. Before founding FJF Legal, he was partner of various well-known Spanish firms.
Mr Rodríguez counsels and advises on all IP-related matters, having been involved as litigator and counsel on behalf of big international companies in complex legal proceedings before the courts. He has extensive experience in litigation, representing big international companies from a wide variety of industries in IP infringement and unfair competition cases, both before the civil and criminal courts. His areas of specialisation include trademarks, patents, designs, unfair competition, advertising, plant variety rights and geographical indications, and he has substantial experience before the Spanish commercial courts and EU trademark courts in Alicante.
Mr Rodríguez is also involved in the protection of various IP rights before the relevant authorities, being very active in the enforcement of trademark portfolios of multinational companies of the luxury industry with Spanish and EU Customs, courts and police forces. He advises his clients in the prosecution of IP matters before the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and the EU Intellectual Property Office.
Mr Rodríguez has participated in research and publications on unfair advertising and unfair competition, and he is author or co-author of articles and books on IP-related issues. He also collaborates with different institutions, often being invited to lecture for and on behalf of Bar associations, universities, Customs and the police. He is a lecturer on the postgraduate LLM in intellectual property and new technologies at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
Mr Rodríguez is a member of the Anti-counterfeiting Committee of the European Communities Trademark Association, as well as other IP organisations.
