Head of Trademark and Domain Names at PONS IP
Carmen González Candela has a law degree from Alicante University (1992), as well as a master’s in IP law (Magister Lucentinus) and one in international business. She is an official industrial property agent in Spain and board member of the Spanish College of Industrial Property Agents.
Ms González Candela has more than 20 years’ experience handling trademark matters before the Spanish Trademarks Office, the EUIPO and the World Intellectual Property Organisation. She focuses on developing global strategies and managing large portfolios of foreign and domestic trademarks, including filling, opposition and cancellation proceedings and negotiation of contracts such as licensing and transfer agreements. She is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.
Ms González Candela joined PONS IP in 2007 where she heads the trademark and domain name department. She is a lecturer in the MA programme in industrial, intellectual property and new technologies run by at the ISDE Law Business School and the PONS Foundation, and teaches new members at the College of Industrial Property Agents.
She is the author of several articles on intellectual property and a regular speaker at IP conferences, particularly on trademark procedures.
She speaks Spanish, French and English.
