Bartosz Krakowiak is a Polish patent and trademark attorney, European patent attorney and professional representative before the EUIPO. He joined POLSERVICE in 2002. In 2006-2018 he was deputy manager of the trademark department and leader of the legal team. In 2018 he became a member of the firm’s management board.
Mr Krakowiak specialises in trademark and design registration, maintenance, licensing and protection, as well as unfair competition matters, including litigation and anti-counterfeiting actions. He is responsible for the Polish trademark portfolios of some of the world’s leading companies and also participates in patent-related disputes. He represents clients before the Polish Patent Office, the EUIPO and the administrative, civil and arbitration courts. He cooperates with the customs, prosecution and enforcement authorities.
Since 2019 Mr Krakowiak has been on the INTA board of directors; he is also a member of the INTA Trademark Office Practices Committee. In 2014-2015 he chaired the INTA Anti-counterfeiting Committee and in 2016-2019 the INTA Legislation and Regulation Committee – Europe and Central Asia Subcommittee. Since 2012 he has been president of the Polish Group of the Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI); he is also a member of the AIPPI Standing Committee – Trademarks. Additionally, he is a member of the Anti-counterfeiting Committee of the European Communities Trademark Association. Mr Krakowiak is vice president of the Disciplinary Court of Appeal of the Polish Chamber of Patent Attorneys and vice chair of its Legislation Committee.
Mr Krakowiak is a frequent speaker and moderator at IP conferences and seminars. He lectures to trainee patent and trademark attorneys and at the Academy of European Law in Trier, Germany, particularly on enforcement of IP rights. He is the author of several trademark law-related publications.
Mr Krakowiak graduated in law (summa cum laude) from the University of Warsaw. He also completed postgraduate studies in IP law at the University of Warsaw and at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, and a special module on EU trademarks (magister lucentinus) at the University of Alicante.
