In addition to four years’ experience at the Norwegian Patent and Trademarks Office, Ann-Cathrin Hoel has more than 10 years of in-house experience in the international pharmaceutical and telecommunications fields. She has worked as in-house counsel and head of the trademark department at Nycomed Amersham and also founded and headed the IP department at Telenor. During her years as in-house counsel, she gained considerable expertise in trademark and copyright law, marketing law, unfair competition, due diligence proceedings, licensing, distribution agreements and IP law in Norway.
Ms Hoel’s legal advice is based on extensive practical knowledge and in-depth knowledge of the IP field, and she is an experienced negotiator. She views intellectual property from a strategic, commercial and business perspective. Further, she has worked for the last 12 years as external IP counsel to international corporations seeking IP rights in Norway and to Norwegian corporations with an international focus.
Based on her experience in the pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries, Ms Hoel believes in providing straightforward, commercially relevant advice.
She has considerable experience in dealing with enforcement issues, due diligence and the management of international trademark portfolios. Much of Ms Hoel’s work involves advising international clients on infringement and passing-off issues and representing clients in oppositions, invalidity and revocation proceedings in Norway.
