Ana Castañeda

Ana Castañeda is head of the trademark and patent department at C&L Attorneys. Ms Castañeda holds a law degree and trained as an electronic engineer. She began her practice in intellectual property in 2000 and has particular expertise in the fashion and apparel, cosmetic, food and beverages, technology and pharmaceutical industries.

Ms Castañeda’s background includes a diploma in the Patent Cooperation Treaty from the Mexican Trademark Office. She also has diplomas in general IP law, biotechnology, electronic commerce and intellectual property from the World Intellectual Property Organisation. She frequently attends courses and lectures related to patents, designs and distinctive signs.

Ms Castañeda has been ranked by WTR 1000, WIPR LEADERS, MIP IP STARS and WIPR’s Influential Women in IP as a leading professional in Mexico in the trademark and patent fields for several years in a row.

Ms Castañeda is collaborating with INTA, mentoring and advising other colleagues through table topics and lectures. Her published articles include:

  • “Co-existence of Trademark and Reservation of Rights in Mexico”, World Review;
  • “New Rules for Franchising”, Informa Law; and
  • “Insight to Mexico’s IP”, Trademark World.

Ms Castañeda is fluent in English, French and Spanish. This, added to her excellent communication skills, means that she can provide clients with clear, proactive and unequivocal guidance.
