Partner at PROMARK
Alain Berthet is the founding partner of IP law firm PROMARK, which he established in 1991 after working at Cabinet Plasseraud and Cabinet Netter.
He has postgraduate degrees in IP law from the University of Paris-Pantheon and taught trademark law there for 12 years.
Mr Berthet has broad experience in solving legal problems relating to trademarks, designs, copyright and domain names. He practises in France and throughout the European Union, and is qualified and experienced not only in strategic counselling and prosecution, but also in contentious enforcement action, customs proceedings and online policing. His extremely varied IP law practice and deep understanding of the use of trademarks in business enable him to advise clients on business-oriented, cost-effective solutions. In addition, Mr Berthet has had extensive involvement in litigation and agreements at EU level and also enjoys working on IP due diligence with his team.
Mr Berthet advises small and large clients in all types of industry – food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and perfumes, entertainment services, fashion, software, publishing – on the protection of their IP assets worldwide.
Mr Berthet has authored a book on trademark protection in France and Europe and numerous articles on trademarks. He is a member of a number of national and international associations, including the European Communities Trademark Association, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, INTA, the Pharmaceutical Trademark Group and MARQUES.
Mr Berthet is also involved in an association that promotes the protection of the environment; he loves walking in the countryside with his dogs.
