PONS IP is a global IP firm, founded in 1945 and headquartered in Madrid. Our domestic network is quite extensive with seven regional offices (Alicante, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Vigo, Vitoria and Zaragoza). We have an international presence in relevant economic hubs (Bogota, Brussels, Guangzhou, Medellin and San Francisco) which is key to our clients.
Through the office in Bogota, PONS IP offers a one-stop shop IP service in Latin America. The firm knows the inconveniences and problems that clients and companies usually face when filing or prosecuting patent or trademark applications in most of the Latin American countries. The firm also knows the importance of immediate feedback on an application and prompt replies to emails. That is why PONS IP has implemented its European methodology in the region, in order to provide clients with top-quality services, total commitment and outstanding experience.
The PONS IP team is one of the largest in Spain with 130 people from many different countries. Therefore, Spanish, English, German, Italian, Chinese, French, Korean, Turkish, Russian and Bulgarian are spoken fluently at the firm.
The firm covers every stage of the IP cycle, but prosecution is where we truly excel. PONS IP is the number one filer of Patent Cooperation Treaty and EU trademark applications in Spain and the second filer of EU trademark applications in Europe.
The firm’s practice encompasses every aspect of intellectual property:

The trademark team comprises 42 people. As a result of our extensive experience with thousands of companies, PONS IP helps clients to choose the right trademark and also to protect and defend it by taking into account the positioning and the degree of internationalisation of each company.

PONS IP also provides strategic counsel and support to innovative companies, hospitals, universities and national research centres, which have some of the most avant-garde technology.
The patent department comprises 35 people, including Spanish and European patent attorneys, PhDs and a former EPO examiner. Many of our staff worked in big corporations before joining PONS IP. This provides us with a better understanding of both legal sides.
