O Kayode & Co is an IP boutique firm specialising in corporate and commercial practice, with particular emphasis on industrial property and IP law. With offices in Lagos and Nigeria’s capital Nabuja, the firm offers advice and solutions to patent, trademark and design challenges in Nigeria and Africa.
The firm’s growing enforcement department has extensive experience in handling counterfeiting cases, covering world famous brands.
Our resources include direct contact with key officials at regulatory agencies, such as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the IP rights unit at Nigerian Customs Service, which we maintain by building healthy working relationships.

Our vibrant team is made up of the individuals listed below.
Ms Kayode is the firm’s founding and managing partner. She manages trademark, patent and design portfolios for domestic and international clients in Nigeria and throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Her litigation practice is expanding to handle counterfeiting issues faced by clients in Nigeria. She also advises clients on matters concerning regulatory bodies in Nigeria.
Ms Kayode handles anti-counterfeiting and trademark portfolios for high-profile multinationals such as ABRO Industries, Inc, GlaxoSmithKline, Panda Express and Reckitt Benckiser Group, to name a few.
Ms Kayode was appointed a notary public in 2014. She is a former board member of INTA, in which she remains active, and the current subcommittee chair of the Unreal Campaign Committee, chair of the Global Advisory Council for Africa and vice president of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property Nigeria.
Dauda Abdullahi Kutigi
Mr Abdullahi Kutigi is an associate with the Abuja office. He studied law at the Bayero University Kano and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar in 2010. His core practice areas include IP litigation, corporate and commercial practice, IP watch services, IP management and maintenance, property and real estate law.
Mr Ezeh studied law at the University of Jos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2012.
He currently works as an associate with the firm, where he practises in the areas of IP prosecution and maintenance, anti-counterfeiting enforcement, corporate/commercial law and legal/advisory services.
Mr Ezeh is enrolled as an LLM student at the University of Lagos. He is a member of a number of associations, including the Nigerian Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Lawyers Association of Nigeria, INTA and the Nigeria Bar Association’s IP Section on Business Law.
Mr Njoku is a law graduate from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. A member of the litigation department, he specialises in real estate, corporate and commercial law.
Mr Njoku is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Mr Udoekpo is a senior paralegal who has been active in the field of IP law since 2002; his core areas of experience are:
- domestic and international trademark registration;
- conducting availability and status searches;
- attending to international patent and design matters; and
- attending to client inquires.
Mr Udoekpo is the firm’s head paralegal and trademark administrator.
Lateefat is an accountant and a paralegal who studied accounting at the Lagos State Polytechnic and is a vital member of the accounts department.
Grace Abosede Oyishoma
Grace Oyishoma is a paralegal with the Abuja office. She plays a pivotal role in managing clients’ trademarks portfolios. Some of her core duties include:
- filing of new trademark applications;
- trademark renewals;
- filing trademark assignments; and
- initiating searches at the registry.
Having trained in secretarial and administrative management, Mr Okon is in charge of office file management and docketing, as well as maintenance of office equipment.

- Lara Kayode, Managing partner
