IntellecPro

Founded in 1998, IntellecPro is a boutique IP firm with its head office in Beijing and branch offices in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Tokyo. The firm is dedicated to excellence in IP law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and unfair competition. The firm actively engages in the prosecution, enforcement and litigation of IP rights in China.

IntellecPro represents companies of various sizes – from start-ups to Fortune 500s – across a wide range of industries, including fashion, food, entertainment, mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, telecoms and chemistry. IntellecPro has successfully represented many high-profile clients including Apple, Pepsi, NBC Universal, P&G, 3M, Entertainment One (eOne) and PMI, making IntellecPro one of the leading IP firms. Our culture is characterised by teamwork and a commitment to excellence in everything we do.

IntellecPro has over 200 staff members, nearly half of whom are based in Beijing. There are nine partners leading the IP practice, including three equity partners, three senior partners and three partners. Our IP team comprises fee earners and some support staff. The ratio of fee earners (including partners) to support staff is six to four. Lawyers, consultants and attorneys occupy more than 75% of our fee earners. With 10 years’ experience on average, our senior professionals have a profound knowledge of the IP legal framework and practice in China and thus can provide effective solutions to clients’ problems.

Over the past year, IntellecPro has handled over 14,400 IP cases, among which 2,000 are related to contentious matters. With a continuously increasing quantity of cases handled each year, IntellecPro endeavours to prioritise the quality of its services, which is in our clients’ best interests.

IntellecPro’s trademark team assists clients with designing brand names and logos and drawing and implementing brand-building plans. It excels in handling oppositions and invalidations against trademark pirates before administrative and judicial authorities.

IntellecPro’s patent team helps clients to create and implement patent strategies. While being traditionally strong in the field of chemistry, its expertise in telecoms has grown rapidly in recent years.

IntellecPro’s enforcement and litigation team specialises in combating increasingly sophisticated IP infringers in China. Its strengths lie in handling disputes involving conflicts among different type of rights and defending clients in legal actions lodged by trademark trolls.

Noteworthy developments at our firm over the past 12 months include the following:

  • IntellecPro has formed a partnership with Han Sheng Law Offices, a full-service firm based in Shanghai, to extend our areas of practice and geographical presence to other major cities in China.
  • With Wang Yanping joining IntellecPro as a partner and the promotion of Liu Wenjuan to partnership, IntellecPro has further expanded its trademark team to accommodate the needs of a growing number of foreign clients in trademark filing and prosecution.
  • IntellecPro successfully landed eOne and began to manage its trademark portfolios and act as the agent for its trademark contentious matters. eOne is a well-known UK producer of animation, film and TV series – its production of animated children’s series Peppa Pig has won wide popularity in China.
  • With an increasing number of Chinese companies choosing to go abroad, IntellecPro has worked more closely with firms in foreign jurisdictions and helped our Chinese clients to plan, formulate and implement strategies for trademark filing and prosecution in order to streamline the entry of their products into foreign markets.
