She advises clients on IP issues arising out of M&A transactions, joint ventures and licensing matters. Ms Chan also advises clients on advertising and labelling, IP protection, enforcement, commercialisation and brand-building strategies. She is a fierce advocate for her clients, whether asserting or defending their rights or negotiating and structuring a deal on their behalf.

Ms Chan is editor-in-chief of the Canadian Intellectual Property Review and author of the IP risk section of Directors’ Duties in Canada. She is recognised in Chambers Canada (intellectual property), MIP IP Stars (trademarks), Benchmark (litigation future star), M&A Today: Global Awards (IP lawyer of the year) and WTR 1000 (prosecution strategy and enforcement). She is a guest lecturer at Osgoode Hall Law School and she regularly presents on advocacy and IP topics.
