James is head of the Trade Marks Group. He has extensive experience of handling multi-jurisdictional clearance searching; advising on filing strategy; trade mark prosecution of unusual marks; conducting trade mark related litigation; and handling anti-dilution campaigns. Clients appreciate James’ pragmatic and cost-conscious approach.
He works with a variety of clients worldwide in a number of sectors, in particular pharmaceuticals, electronics, medical devices and the wine industry.
James also takes a keen interest in Asian originating work and is a regular visitor to Japan.
James joined J A Kemp in 2002 from Clifford Chance and became a partner in 2004. Chambers & Partners ranks James as a ‘band 1’ Trade Mark Attorney and reports that “clients say he employs his expertise in a practical way”. Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) states that “a number of competitors singled out James Fish for his ability to attract big-ticket clients”. The Legal 500 says that James is “highly regarded for his ‘demeanour, responsiveness, thoughtful advice and international perspective’ on trade mark issues”.
