Hugo T Berkemeyer is a senior attorney, partner and general director of Berkemeyer Attorneys & Counselors. He graduated from the National University of Asunción in 1983 with an LLM from the University of San Diego and a specialization from the Franklin Pierce Law Center. His areas of practice include corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, financial and banking law, foreign investment, contracts, intellectual property, antitrust and international trade. Since becoming general director, Mr Berkemeyer has expanded the firm’s professional practice so that it now employs over 90 staff, and enjoys worldwide renown, with important national and international clients. Mr Berkemeyer was the first Paraguayan to be named president of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property for the 2004 to 2006 period. He is also a member of the International Trademark Association Board of Directors, the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the International Anti-counterfeiting Coalition. He is also president of the Paraguayan Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and the Paraguayan-American Chamber of Commerce Foundation (Education).
