Legal updates: case law analysis and intelligence
Trademark applications may now be filed electronically with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. Although not mandatory, the new system encourages e-filing by setting a premium on fees for applications filed by post.
The e-filing of trademarks can be done directly through the Intellectual Property Office's website. Other activities that may be done online include the following:
- applying to register a certification or collective mark;
- applying to renew a trademark;
- amending or updating an applicant's or proprietor's details;
- applying for an extension of time;
- appointing a new agent; and
- updating an address for service.
