Tense dialogue as ICANN board interrogates trademark concerns
ICANN’s IP Constituency is out in force here in Brussels. After years of involvement in ICANN’s multi-stakeholder policy development process, trademark counsel are here at what is touted as the final hurdle in ensuring that trademarks are given due protection in the new gTLD space. After today it is clear that the IP Constituency’s mantle has been taken up by governments, but ICANN will not give them an easy ride.
