Switzerland
The basic principles for trademark protection inSwitzerland are laid down in the Federal Act onthe Protection of Trademarks and GeographicalIndications 1992 and the Trademarks Regulation1992, which have been repeatedly revised. Thelegislation is largely in harmony with the EUFirst Trademarks Directive (89/104/EEC), but asSwitzerland is not a member of the EuropeanUnion, it is not covered by the Communitytrademark regime.
