Provisions regarding the updating of industrial property fees suspended

Romania

The official fees which are to be paid to the Romanian State Office for Inventions and Trademarks for the registration of industrial property rights in Romania are established by Government Ordinance No 41/1998 on the official fees for the protection of industrial property rights.

According to Article 4 of the Government Ordinance No 41/1998, the level of official fees for the registration of industrial property rights can be updated every year by a government ordinance to reflect the fluctuation of the exchange and inflation rates.

Law No 31/2015 for the suspension of the provisions of Article 4 of Government Ordinance No 41/1998 on the official fees for the protection of industrial property rights and the use thereof was published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part 1, No 169, dated March 11 2015.

This normative act suspends, until December 31 2016, the application of the provisions of the Government Ordinance No 41/1998 regarding the updating of the official fees in Romanian lei owed by natural and legal persons in the field of industrial property protection.
