Online platforms issue joint call for safe harbour to allow challenges to “spurious assertion of trademark rights”
Etsy, Foursquare, Kickstarter, Meetup and Shapeways have joined forces to call for a trademark equivalent of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, arguing the need for mechanisms that allow “the spurious assertion of trademark rights” to be challenged. However, industry commentators have told World Trademark Review that collaboratively-created best practice would be more effective.
