Niall Trainor,
Senior Director Brand Protection, Entertainment One
Niall Trainor is head of brand protection for the Family Brands team at Entertainment One, now part of the Hasbro group. The combined portfolio includes many successful children’s brands including Peppa Pig, PJ Masks, My Little Pony, Power Rangers and Transformers amongst others. He manages teams in London and Shanghai, dealing with copyright and trademark matters globally. Last month, the Entertainment One brand protection team received the 2020 WTR award for the Sports, Media and Entertainment team of the year. Prior to working for Entertainment One, Niall trained at Ashurst law firm in London specialising in international arbitration and litigation.
Steve K. Francis
Director, National IPR Coordination Center, U.S. Homeland Security
Mr. Steve Francis is the Assistant Director for Global Trade Investigations Division with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Director of the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center. In this position, he is responsible for the oversight of HSI’s national programs related to trade enforcement, intellectual property, and counter proliferation.
Prior to this assignment, from August 2017 through May 2019, Mr. Francis served as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for HSI Detroit with an area of responsibility that included the states of Michigan and Ohio. In this position, Mr. Francis was responsible for overseeing more than 220 law enforcement agents, intelligence analysts and professional administrative staff throughout Michigan and Ohio. The law enforcement personnel were charged with investigating over 400 violations of U.S. laws in furtherance of promoting Homeland Security, Public Safety and Border Security.
Frederick Mostert
Professor, Intellectual Property Law, King’s College, London
Frederick Mostert is Professor of Practice at Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College, London. He is Past President of the International Trademark Association and is currently the Chairman of the Luxury Law Alliance. He was inducted into the Intellectual Property Hall of Fame in 2015.
Matthew Bassiur
Vice President, Head of Global IP Enforcement, Alibaba Group
Matthew Bassiur serves as Vice President, Head of Global Intellectual Property Enforcement for Alibaba Group. He leads a team that works with international brands, retail partners, industry associations, government regulators, law enforcement and other organizations to advance Alibaba Group’s IP protection efforts.
Matthew joined Alibaba from Pfizer Inc., where he served as Vice President and Deputy Chief Security Officer – overseeing anti-counterfeiting operations as well as large-scale investigations. Prior to Pfizer, Matthew was Senior Director for Global Security and Counsel for IPR Enforcement at Apple Inc.
