This week, Heinz became the latest brand owner to pulls its gTLD applications, withdrawing its bids for ‘.heinz’ and ‘.ketchup’. Meanwhile, the public comment period over closed generic strings ends today. While opposition voices are loud and many, closed generics have their supporters – with one calling for USPTO protection for such TLDs.
