Deadline for transition from '.cg.yu' to '.me' extended
Montenegro
Legal updates: case law analysis and intelligence
The period of transition from the '.cg.yu' extension to the new country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) '.me' has been extended from September 30 2009 to March 30 2010 based on a decision of the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
In addition, DoMEn, which regulates the '.me' ccTLD, has informed all 'cg.yu' domain name owners that Google has agreed to fast index the new '.me' domain names.
If '.cg.yu' domain name owners do not change their email addresses and web servers to '.me' before the deadline of March 30 2010, they will no longer be able to access their accounts or recover information.
The '. cg.yu' extension, which had been assigned to the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, was replaced by the ccTLDs '.rs' (for Serbia) and '.me' (for Montenegro) following the June 2006 split of Yugoslavia into two countries.
