China to incorporate IP violations into “social credit” system for enterprises
China is assembling an ambitious “social credit” system which will centralise government information on every legal entity in the country, and authorities say cases of intentional IP infringement will show up in an organisation’s credit history. Set to be completed in 2020, the project could make it more difficult for counterfeiters to do business by affecting their creditworthiness and help authorities identify and track repeat infringers.
