Trademark protection in Egypt is well established, with the domestic regime in line with the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights since 2002. However, this strong legal framework is not matched by the same standards in enforcement. Court proceedings also move slowly and some international commentators suggest that they would be wary of initiating litigation in this jurisdiction. A small number of agencies and law firms - both major regional players and longstanding domestic outfits are prominent in the market.
