Along with Seattle, Portland is a key commercial hub in the Pacific Northwest region and shares many economic trends with its counterpart further north. The city is home to the headquarters of a number of sporting goods manufacturers, including Adidas, Nike, Hi-Tec and Columbia Sportswear. In addition, numerous technological companies, including Intel and TriQuint Semiconductor, have bases there; and heavy industry, particularly steel and forestry, is also active in the wider state. The relatively small population and low concentration of commercial activity relative to many other states featured in the WTR 1000 make for a compact legal market; trademark lawyers have therefore been ranked in a single table to reflect the often multi-faceted nature of their practices.
