Vivien Chan & Co is a full-service law practice with established law offices in Hong Kong and Beijing. We are consistently recognised as a premier law firm in Greater China. With almost 30 years’ experience of doing business in China, our teams have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of China’s legal culture and market dynamics. We have been recognised by a number of legal publications, including IFLR, Chambers, Legal 500, International Who’s Who, Managing Intellectual Property and Asian Legal Business.
Vivien Chan & Co was one of the first foreign law firms licensed by the Ministry of Justice to establish a law office in the People’s Republic of China. Our long-established licensed law offices in Greater China have enabled us to develop deep local roots and an integrated global perspective necessary to help domestic businesses and multinational companies alike to manage even the most complex local and cross-border transactions seamlessly.
Our range of clients and scope of services have developed rapidly since the firm’s establishment. We have represented numerous Fortune 500 companies and Chinese clients engaged in a broad range of commercial transactions and regulatory issues since the 1980s. These include cross-border mergers and acquisitions; joint ventures and other investments; financing; infrastructure development and company restructurings; government regulation, with a significant focus on international trade; and intellectual property.
We have also advised on some of the most significant acquisitions, arbitrations, real estate projects and employment matters to date. This is particularly evident from our leading position in areas such as intellectual property, tax, employment, mergers and acquisitions, and dispute resolution. Our ability to collaborate across practices and borders with ease allows us to bring the right team to every transaction, regardless of location.
The firm takes an ‘involvement in client’s industry’ approach to the provision of legal services, as we believe that through clear understanding of the client’s industry, the firm is better equipped to service and add value to the client’s business. Our partners maintain a high degree of involvement in each matter to ensure the input of necessary professional expertise. Resources are allocated in a manner which ensures the client’s needs are served in a cost-effective manner. We practise with attention to clients’ interests as paramount, and in a timely and responsive manner. The firm is committed to providing the best quality legal advice to clients so that they may grow and prosper – only then do we continue to grow and develop.
We have been consistently recognised as a leading Greater China law firm by our peers. Most recently, we were awarded:
- Best Full-Service Law Firm and winner of the Award for Excellence in Acquisitions Law – APAC Insider 2017 China Business Awards;
