Barbara K Müller is a member of Meyerlustenberger Lachenal’s IP team, one of the top-ranked IP teams in Switzerland. She heads the trademark and design team, combining trademark prosecution and litigation at a high level. Ms Müller has vast experience in trademark and design prosecution, as well as litigation and arbitration in IP matters.

She has broad expertise in Swiss and international law and advises domestic and foreign clients from various industries, with a strong focus on social media, publishing, watch and furniture manufacturing and the airline supply industry. Apart from strategic IP management, licensing, franchising and other contractual IP matters, her fields of expertise cover copyright, unfair competition, domain name disputes and IT law.

Ms Müller was involved in the registration proceedings for several non-traditional trademarks, such as single colours and three-dimensional marks (many of them applied for the first time in Switzerland), and has assisted clients in several Swiss landmark litigation cases.

Ms Müller chairs the Non-traditional Trademark Committee (Europe) of the International Trademark Association. She also publishes regularly in her field of expertise. She is a co-author of the Kennzeichenrecht edition of the book series njus.ch, and is both a co-editor and co-author of the commentary on copyright law in the book series Stämpflis Handkommentare. In addition, Ms Müller is a frequent speaker on topics related to trademark and design.
