Director - Hiddleston Trade Marks
Mark Hiddleston is the director and founder of Hiddleston Trade Marks. He is a trademark attorney and trademark litigator. He has a passion for trademarks and has over 25 years’ experience in the field.
Mr Hiddleston set up Hiddleston Trade Marks with the aim of providing a responsive, commercial firm that is geared to the needs of its clients. Previously, Mr Hiddleston was a partner and head of trademarks for 10 years at UK firm Elkington and Fife LLP. Before that, he was managing director of the trademarks group of the London office of Clifford Chance LLP.
During his lengthy career, Mr Hiddleston has handled trademark matters and large-scale trademark portfolios for clients operating in a diverse range of fields, including beverages, tobacco, food, confectionery, film and television, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, financial, automobiles, engineering, publishing and software and hardware.
He has extensive experience in the clearing and searching of trademarks in the United Kingdom, Europe and worldwide, the prosecution of UK, Community trademark and international applications under the Madrid Protocol, the handling of UK and Community trademark oppositions and the negotiating and drafting of trademark settlement agreements.
He is a member of the International Trademark Association Public Information Committee and the Council for the Chartered Institute of Trademark Attorneys (CITMA), and is chair of the CITMA Formal Publications Working Group and a former member of the ITMA Education and Training Committee.
Mr Hiddleston has an expanding practice relating to domain name disputes, including the filing of Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy Proceedings with the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
He is also a regular speaker at the annual trademarks summer school that is run by the Canadian Institute of Intellectual Property, lecturing on Community trademarks and Madrid Protocol international registration law and practice.
Mr Hiddleston is a senior editor of, and contributor to, the United Kingdom Trade Mark Handbook, the leading authority on trademark practice in the United Kingdom.

Designs 2017: A Global Guide
While the United Kingdom remains in the European Union, owners can still obtain design registration as either a UK registered design or a registered Community design. Unregistered design protection is also available as an unregistered Community design right or a UK design right.
