Alain Berthet

Alain Berthet is the founding partner of IP law firm Promark, which he established in 1991 after having worked at Cabinet Plasseraud from 1984 to 1990, and at Cabinet Netter from 1990 to 1991.

He has postgraduate degrees in IP law from the University of Paris-Pantheon and has taught classes in trademark law there since 2001.

Mr Berthet has extensive experience in solving legal problems concerning trademarks, designs, copyright and domain names, and advises national and international clients in France and before the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market, the General Court and the European Court of Justice.

His background in dealing with various aspects of IP law and his keen understanding of the use of trademarks in business enable him to advise clients on business-oriented, cost-effective solutions. Mr Berthet has had extensive involvement in litigation and agreements at EU level, and particularly enjoys working on IP due diligence with his team.

Mr Berthet has published a book on trademark protection in France and Europe, and several articles about trademarks. He is a member of a number of national and international associations, including the International Trademark Association, the European Communities Trademark Association, the Pharmaceutical Trademark Group, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and the Association des Praticiens du Droit des Marques et des Modèles.
