Laura Collada Salcido has been the managing partner of Dumont Bergman Bider & Co SC since 2005 and has worked at the firm since 2001. She has many years of experience in the IP field and was previously director of the Sub-office for the Prevention of Unfair Competition at the Mexican Industrial Property Institute. Her practice covers the complete lifecycle of IP rights, from consultancy to application, and from enforcement to dispute resolution.

Ms Collada graduated with honours in law from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 1986, and completed further specialties in IP, corporate, civil, constitutional and environmental law (with honours) at the Universidad Panamericana and a specialist course in contracts at ITAM. She has taught copyright and IP law at different universities in Mexico City, Aguascalientes and Veracruz.

Ms Collada has written a weekly column in national newspaper El Independiente on issues relating to intellectual property and is a regular speaker at conferences on the subject. She has also authored publications such as Taxations, Royalties and Others.

Ms Collada is an active member of national and international professional organisations, including the Mexican Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (where she is president of the Trademark Committee); BMA Barra Mexicana Colegio de Abogados; the International Trademark Association; the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property; MARQUES; the Association of Patent Law Firms; the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property; the American Intellectual Property Law Association; and the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group. She is listed in Chambers and Partners’ ranking tables in Band 3 for 2010 and 2011.
