Eryck Castillo is a senior partner of Uhthoff, Gómez Vega & Uhthoff SC with more than 30 years’ experience in trademark and domain name portfolio management for Mexican and international companies, at both domestic and international levels. His practice includes both prosecution and enforcement.

Mr Castillo is an expert counsel for clients in need of serious, objective and practical solutions to their everyday needs. These are derived from specialised studies in intellectual property conducted in Mexico and abroad, in addition to the values that have been fostered in the law firm since its foundation over 110 years ago, which were taught to Mr Castillo by some of its founders.

He is secretary of the Mexican group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). He is the chair of the Policy Development Subcommittee of the Unfair Competition Committee of the International Trademark Association, a member of AIPPI’s Standing Committee on the Commercialisation of Intellectual Property and of the European Communities Trademark Association’s Geographical Indications Committee.

Mr Castillo is well known throughout the IP world. He was educated in Mexico and holds a law degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Mexico City (1993) and a master’s in intellectual property from the Franklin Pierce Law Centre, United States (1994). He also holds a diploma in IP law from the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City (1996), and continues his education by attending seminars throughout the world.

Mr Castillo is the author of several articles on IP-related topics. He has also spoken publicly on these issues and lectured at several universities and associations.
