Louise Gellman leads the trademark filing and prosecution practice at Nabarro LLP. Ms Gellman advises on the protection, exploitation and enforcement of trademark rights, with a particular focus on oppositions and strategic portfolio management.

Ms Gellman is a graduate of the University of York and joined Nabarro LLP in 1994. She holds a postgraduate diploma in IP law from the University of Bristol.

Ms Gellman prosecutes trademark applications at the UK registry, at the Community trademark office and using the Madrid Protocol system, and has a busy oppositions practice. She advises clients in relation to worldwide and European rebranding programmes, handles the associated trademark clearance and manages the subsequent filing programmes and resulting portfolios. Ms Gellman also advises on the IP aspects of large corporate and banking transactions, often involving large portfolios of registered rights, and manages the subsequent recordal programmes.

Ms Gellman’s clients include UK, European and international brand owners from a wide variety of sectors, including finance, food and beverages, not-for-profit, hotels and leisure, fashion and retail. Ms Gellman is active in the International Trademark Association (INTA) and chairs the INTA Madrid System Sub-committee. She is also involved in MARQUES and is a member of the MARQUES Geographical Indications Team.
