Robert Flury is a partner of Zulauf Partners, a Swiss law firm that was founded in 2006. He graduated from the University of Zurich with a doctoral thesis (Dr iur) in copyright law. After working for the Zurich District Court and being admitted to the Zurich Bar in 1998, he obtained an LLM from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (previously the Franklin Pierce Law Centre) in 2002.
Dr Flury’s practice focuses on trademarks and distinctive signs such as company names and domain names. It encompasses trademark litigation, prosecution and enforcement of all types of trademark (word, device, three-dimensional and sound marks). In addition, he advises clients on design, copyright and unfair competition matters. His expertise particularly includes strategies for the global registration and policing of trademarks in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.
Dr Flury has represented Swiss and international clients’ interests before the Swiss Trademark Office, the Federal Administrative Court, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, several cantonal courts and the World Intellectual Property Organisation Arbitration and Mediation Centre. He has significant experience in Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy disputes.
Dr Flury’s clients are Swiss and international corporations with a strong focus on the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, as well as renowned advertising agencies, auction houses, biotechnology companies, car manufacturers, financial corporations, food and beverage providers and fashion and entertainment companies.
Dr Flury is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, and a frequent author of professional and newspaper articles in the field of intellectual property.
