The denunciation comes days after one small business owner accused Amazon of being “complicit with counterfeiting” a statement that went viral and has led to increased pressure on the company to take further action to stem the sale of fakes.

A first-of-its-kind research project has revealed the brands that UK consumers are most committed and loyal to, with technology giants Samsung and Apple topping the inaugural ranking. The research contains some surprises, however, with Coca-Cola failing to make the top 50, while also revealing that UK consumers most value heritage, quality and consistency in brands.
Exclusive data compiled by World Trademark Review has revealed the top corporate and representative filers at the EU Intellectual Property Office for the year to June 2017. L’Oréal sits in top spot, with a number of Asian technology brands close behind. While international brand powerhouses continue to utilise European-wide protection, the office experienced volatility in filing levels last year, which it attributed in part to the Brexit vote.
New data has revealed that technology giant LG was the most prolific filer of trademark applications at the US Patent and Trademark Office in 2016, with entertainment conglomerates CBS, Time Warner and Disney just behind. New research from brand consultancy Siegel+Gale has analysed nearly 900 brands to create a ranking of those which succeed due to brand promise simplicity. While the survey found that consumers are more willing to pay a premium for goods and services from companies that boast a simple brand promise, achieving simplicity remains an uphill battle for many brands.
