Internet & Telecommunications Team of the Year: Verizon Communications

Nothing preoccupies an IP team like a rebrand and this has certainly been the case at Verizon. The telecommunications giant officially unveiled its new logo in September 2015; so far, the IP team has filed applications across over 200 countries, covering 16 classes. “The filing and prosecution of the many trademark applications for the new logo has kept us busy and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future as the applications work their way through the registration process on a country-by-country basis,” explains assistant general counsel Patrick Flaherty. The wide variety of jurisdictions involved, each with its own registration nuances, necessitated careful planning and implementation – a challenge to which the team has risen admirably.
