Now anyone can be a '.pro' 08 Jan 16
The ‘.pro’ generic top-level domain (gTLD), originally marketed in 2002 for just a handful of professions in a few select countries and latterly restricted to certified professionals in any field worldwide, was opened up to all registrants on November 16 2015. This move follows the acquisition of the ‘.pro’ registry by Afilias in 2012 and the subsequent drive to raise the profile of ‘.pro’ and increase the number of registrations in a now crowded gTLD market.
