The online enforcement burden rises as new challenges emerge

This year’s Global Trademark Benchmarking Survey reveals that the online policing burden is intensifying, with new threats adding to the headache experienced by brand protection professionals.

World Trademark Review
’s 10th annual Global Trademark Benchmarking Survey has found that the burden of online enforcement work is rapidly intensifying. In fact, if there is one overall takeaway from the online environment section of this year’s survey, it is that enforcement demands continue to add significant budgetary and resource pressure on trademark counsel. This year 46.7% stated that the level of online enforcement activity had increased over the past year. Coupled with the 51.1% rise reported in last year’s survey, this equates to a significant amount of effort being directed online.
